STORY

Sable Rosemont is an award-winning Kiwi-Australian poet, songwriter and performer creating dark, psychologically charged work across music and poetry.

Her work is raw, literary and slightly unhinged - blending psychological weirdness, uncomfortable imagery and cinematic storytelling with narratives that are unapologetically her own.

Whanganui Umbilical

Sable is currently developing Whanganui Umbilical, a new body of music drawn from her New Zealand roots

The project explores the strange gravity of home: deaths that call you back, family histories, local gossip, folklore, inherited stories and the unsettling way small places remember everything.

Whanganui becomes something almost bodily - a place you can leave without ever quite detaching from. Drawing on memory, landscape and the peculiar darkness of ordinary rural life, the songs move between the familiar and the uncanny.

Hematite

Released in 2026, Hematite is Sable's debut album — a visceral exploration of divorce, separation, coercive relationships and psychological reinvention.

Body horror collides with emotional reality: bodies become meat, empathy becomes invasive, and the aftermath of a relationship becomes something physical, grotesque and occasionally very funny.

Alternative and industrial influences sit alongside dark cinematic storytelling, creating something deliberately uncomfortable, strange and difficult to categorise.

Poetry

Alongside her music, Sable is an award-winning poet.

In 2026, she won the South Coast Writers Centre Poetry Award for A State of Trespass and received Highly Commended in the Calanthe Poetry Prize for I Married a Bird.

Her work has also been selected for publication in Australian literary journals, with new work appearing in 2027.
